How do I create a shortcut - for PS Standard?

4/22/2017

Shortcuts are basically small files that point back to another file... sometimes called a link.  When you put a shortcut to a program on you desktop, taskbar, or start menu, you are not copying the larger program file.  All program files should reside in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86).  You should not make any changes to these files if you need to read this post.
  1. Start the file manager.  It is normally a file folder icon on the task bar.  But you can start typing "File manager" in the search field on the task bar and it will come up in the list.
  2. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Pro-Stitcher\bin
  3. Right click (or press and hold your figure on the tough screen until a box appears, then let up). on the PsLauncher.exe file in the list.
  4. From the 'right-click menu' select the "Create Shortcut" menu selection.
  5. Select 'yes' when you are prompted that "Windows can't create a shortcut here.  Do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead?"
  6. You may rename the shortcut on the desktop to "PS Standard" if you wish.  Just right-click and select the 'rename' menu option.

What to do if videos are not playing properly.

I am a computer expert and still run into issues, so don't get frustrated.  Try these steps to resolve your issues.  Most of these steps apply to general browsing problems.  Hope they help...
  1. Do you have internet connectivity?   Try to go to another website and click around.
  2. Are you actually logged into your account on mkquilts.yondo.com?
  3. Are you logged in as the account/email that you bought the video under?  Some people end up registering more than one account.  Go to the DASHBOARD menu selection and it should show everything your purchased.
  4. Did you get a confirmation email that the rental of the video went through?  We occassionally have issues with PayPal not sending the confirmation back to the Yondo site.  If any purchase does not complete within 10 minutes, reach out to us by phone.
  5. Clear your browser cookies.  See my earlier blog:  clearing-your-browser-cookies  Restarting the browser or rebooting your computer is also helpful in clearing residual issues.
  6. Try a different browser.  The yondo.com site that hosts the videos seems to prefer the Chrome browser that can be installed on both PCs and MACs.
  7. Check your internet speed.   The videos should buffer up even over slow connections, but you might get impatient waiting.  Speedtest.net seems to be a good site to test with.
  8. Contact MK and myself for help.  See out HELP menu on MKQuilts.com

Beware of internet deals on HQ machines!

Even HQ Retailers are always looking to save money on the machines in their shop.  My recent trip to HQ for training allowed me to talk to many other retailers.  Several stories were shared where they or someone they knew ordered an HQ longarm quilting machine off a discount website.  (No specific names will be mentioned.)
In every instance, there were issues...
  • Delivery - "...we had to meet the truck in a parking lot and transfer it to our car piece by piece because the truck would not enter the neighborhood.
  • Delays in setup - "...a third party contractor showed up more than a week after it arrived for setup.  I don't think the table was ever properly balanced."
  • Machine needed adjustment.  "...alignment and/or re-calibration needed to be done.  The machine must have been bounced around."

HQ Stitch Overload

Picture
Yes, that is me realizing that there is more technology in the HQ Stitch 710 than in the Space Shuttle!  After two days of long arm quilting machine training on the Avante, Fusion, and Infinity... the Handi Quilter Stitch machines had their own unique engineering.

Thanks to great manuals from Glen at HQ, the patient survived and will stitch another day.  We not only learned how to do the basic service - Inspect, Oil, Adjust.  We learned how to replace everything in the machine!

What PS Tablet is Shipping? 4/2017

4/7/2017

You can NOT buy a generic tablet, load Pro-Stitcher on it and use it as a controller on your quilting machine.

I had to start out the post with the obvious, as this is one of the excuses why some do not want to post this information publicly.  The other reason is that the tablet vendor is constantly updating their hardware versions in part because their vendors making the computer parts are always updating and retiring their parts.  The same PC model of computer often has multiple versions due to parts changes.

So the message here is that you will receive all the accessories - like keyboard and stylus - that would come with the generic tablet listed below... or something newer.  The difference in cost buying from Handi Quilter covers the custom install of the OS and Pro-Stitcher in a certified and locked down configuration specifically for interfacing with the Pro-Stitcher hardware.  You also get an extra year of hardware warranty through HQ not to mention the superb technical support.  You will spend more time quilting if you let the tablet on the machine manage the machine and nothing else.

The margin passed on to MK - your retailer of choice (of course) - is relatively small.  But we appreciate anything that supports our efforts to support you.   If you need to get your Art & Stitch license moved over, we can help with that too.
